A coating of coconut oil is naturally water repellant, antibacterial and can be used to help seal the wood, if desired. Sealing with any oil will deepen the color.

The soap dishes measure 2.75 inches by 4 inches by 3/4 inch thick. Each dish has been carefully hand-sanded on all edges, creating a soft, elegant finish. They make a great addition to any soap gift.
These dishes extend the life of your handmade soaps, and buying them in pairs extends the life of the soap dish, too:

Use one soap dish for 2-3 weeks, and then wipe clean with a damp cloth and set aside to allow it to fully dry out. Use the second dish for 2-3 weeks while the first dish dries out, and then alternate them this way.

Allowing the dishes to fully dry out every few weeks will prevent them from becoming waterlogged and prevent mold and mildew from developing. Rotating them out this way greatly increase the life of a soap dish.

It is normal for these wood dishes to initially *bleed a bit of color when saturated with water. This is from the natural tannins in the wood, and is temporary. Some darker and red color woods may bleed color when saturated with water. The soap dishes are not stained, so any coloration is from the tannins found in wood's natural oils.

If this issue does arise, know that it is only temporary and will cease, and that it is natural color from the wood itself. If this issue does arise, it is only temporary and will cease. To avoid any staining, *we recommend using on a porous surface, only.
