I've Got Some Feelings About The Things We Reach For Everyday.
The soap in your powder room. The candle on your nightstand. The way a small ritual can make an ordinary Tuesday feel a little more intentional. So when I discovered Ifen Carlson and what she built with Luvons, I felt I had to introduce you.
She Couldn't Find What She Was Looking For
Ifen is a San Francisco mom with a shoe-free home and two kids who used to crawl on the floors. She wanted slippers she could feel good about wearing. But everything she found was either frumpy, clunky, or impossible to keep clean.
She'd end up tossing them. Then buying new ones. Then tossing those too.
That cycle got old fast. She spent months researching, talking to hundreds of women, testing pairs, and partnering with an expert footwear designer. The result was Luvons: machine-washable slippers that look polished enough to wear when company stops by.
She named the brand after her kids, Luke and Devon. That detail tells you everything you need to know about where the idea came from.
The Part That Hooked Me: You Can Wash Them
Here's what I keep coming back to. Most slippers are basically disposable. They get dirty, they start to smell, and there's nothing you can do except feel vaguely guilty about throwing them away.
Luvons changed that. Drop them in a mesh laundry bag (bonus - you get one with every pair!), run the wash, and they come out fresh. That's it.
For anyone who keeps a tidy home, this is the detail that changes everything. Your floors are clean. Your towels are clean. Your soap dish is clean. Why should your slippers be the one thing you can't keep up with?
They shouldn't.
What They Look Like (Because That Matters Too)
These are not the slippers you quickly change out of when guests knock on the door - these are some good-lookin' kicks.
The Devon mule, my personal favorite, comes in velvet and performance fabrics, with a faux fur or faux shearling footbed, Ortholite memory foam insoles, and a rubber sole sturdy enough to step outside.
The Francesca is a closed-back loafer in Ruby or Black Velvet. Both styles look like something you'd see in a boutique, not a drugstore.
Customers keep saying things like "I couldn't believe they were slippers" and "nice enough to wear for company." Elle Décor named them a top hostess gift in 2024. Better Homes & Gardens put them in their Mother's Day Gift Guide. They're that kind of find.
Ifen Built This After a Full Career Doing Something Else
Before Luvons, Ifen spent 20+ years in marketing, management consulting, and financial services. When her kids left for college, she finally had space to build something personal.
She launched on Kickstarter in August 2023 as a "Project We Love" and exceeded her goal on Day 1. The official launch followed that October.
That's the kind of story I love to share here: a woman who paid attention to a problem she lived, and then solved it with care.

The Devon mule is a great place to start. And yes, they're machine washable.
Slippers you can wash and want to be seen in. Finally.
