Mothers Day Gift Guide

Mothers Day Gift Guide

Every year on Mothers Day, I try to come up with a meaningful gift for my mom. She's 81 now, so she's already got plenty of 'stuff'.

These days, I'm putting more thought into simple but thoughtful gifts. Since I've been thinking about it, I thought I'd share some gift ideas for the mom who has everything

1. Gift Cards: Mothers Day Gift Guide Gilded Olive Apothecary
A couple of gift cards (stuffed inside a new wallet is even nicer!)

Buy her a card to her favorite hair salon, or treat her to a massage or manicure & pedicure.

Restaurant cards for a lunch date are great too, and she gets to choose who comes with! Seriously, do you know anyone who doesn't appreciate a thoughtful gift card?

2. Consumables:
They make amazing gifts! She'll use them and enjoy them, without the commitment of having to hold on to it, forever more. And they're Gilded Olive Apothecary Lavender Soap Gift Setespecially nice when you choose luxury products she wouldn't necessarily buy for herself.

My mom loves fancy soaps, so I always give her my Lavender Soap & Sugar Scrub Gift Set.  It includes two lavender soaps, a jar of fluffy sugar scrub and a lavender lip balm, made with essential oil, that doubles as a perfume stick. Handmade soaps, candles and gourmet foods all make really nice gifts.

3. Fresh Deliveries & Subscription Boxes:

Mothers Day Gift Guide Bean BoxIs your mom a coffee fan? Treat her to the good stuff!
Bean Box is a monthly coffee subscription box, offering unique gifts for the coffee connoisseur.

12 oz of gourmet coffee each month, with free shipping in the US. Tasting notes & brewing tips included. Ask them to add a personal note for a nice finishing touch!

Farmgirl Flowers.
For fresh cut flowers, everything they do is oh, so pretty. Mothers Day Gift Guide Farmgirl Flowers
If your mom's a fan of everything floral, (mine is) then she'll love Farmgirl.

They create gorgeous arrangements that come wrapped in their trademarked burlap cloth. Fresh and less fussy than the old standard, their bouquets are simple & beautiful.

"Soft Landing”  includes 12 stems of softly-colored peonies, ready for a quick trim and the vase of your choosing!
They'll even hook mom up with tips and tricks for floral styling and cut-flower care. #alltheprettythings

Shari's Berries. Um, can we talk chocolate-covered strawberries? Mothers Day Gift Guide Shari's Berries
Incredibly delicious, chocolate-covered strawberries, delivered to her door
in an insulated cold box.

Delightful, delicious, and kind of unforgettable, they manage to somehow find THE best strawberries on the planet.

This is something I'd never purchase for myself, but the first time I received these as a gift, I was shocked at how pretty they looked and how good they tasted! I promise you, you'll never go wrong with chocolate covered strawberries done well.

Is she an ice cream fan? Then look no further than  Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams Pint Club.
Mothers Day Gift Guide Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream Pint Club
A subscription that gives the gift of truly splendid ice cream, all year long.

It starts with a Welcome Box that includes 4 of their signature flavors, a welcome letter with the ice cream delivery dates as well as a set of four ice cream spades. Every three months, members will receive four flavors of Jeni's shipped directly to their doorstep.

Truth be told, good ice cream is my personal Kryptonite, but before the end of time, you must try Jeni's Goat Cheese with Red Cherries.
With that being said, my work here is done.

4. She's Crafty:

Organize some of those old photos for her! She's probably got plenty of these hanging around, and you could probably 'borrow' them- if you're stealth..
Old Photos Christopher Flynn UnsplashThere's so many ways you can do this, and you don't have to use all of the photos!
Go through them and pick the very best ones (grab a box of tissues while you're at it).

You can go super simple with cute photo-storage boxes, or get crafty with some scrapbook supplies from Michaels (or whatever craft store is near you.)
Or scan the best of them and upload them to create a photo-book or gift at a site like Shutterfly or Snapfish. However you do it, it's a gesture that's sure to please.

5 Thoughtful Gift Idea's For Mother's Day
5. A Thank You Note:
Remember that assignment we were all given in the fourth grade, where you had to write your mom a letter? The one your mom still keeps in her box of special things?

Sitting in those tiny chairs, with our fly-away hair, we were gently guided to write down specific reasons why we loved her.

This year, I still have the fly-away hair, and the assignment's back on my to-do list. Along with her favorite lavender soap, I'm gonna include a letter of gratitude.
I'll write it in extra large print, and I'll highlight all the things I love about her that I've never actually told her, but truly want her to know.
She can read it again and again, and she probably will

Whatever you give her, you know she's gonna love it, because it comes from you. And that's what great mom's are all about- unconditional love!
